Machias Savings Bank donates to Big Brothers Big Sisters

Camden — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine was the recent recipient of a $2,000 Community Development Grant from Machias Savings Bank.

The grant was to support the agency’s 1-to-1 Youth Mentoring program in Knox County. Local elementary schools included in the program are South School in Rockland, Vinalhaven School, Appleton Village School, Hope Elementary, Lincolnville Central School, and Camden-Rockport Elementary School.

The agency serves more than 500 children in Kennebec, Knox, Lincoln, Penobscot, Somerset and Waldo counties.

Judy Brogden, branch manager of the Rockland office presented the grant check to Cathy Hardy, development director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine.

“This grant will help to provide games, arts and crafts supplies, sports equipment, and healthy snacks for our School-Based Mentoring program,” said Hardy in a news release. “We appreciate Machias Savings Bank’s continued support of our agency.”
