Rockland — The sixth annual "Lucky Leprechaun" 5-kilometer road race will be Saturday, March 15 at 10 a.m. at Trackside Station on 4 Union Street.

It will be Go! Malawi’s third in the 2014 race series.

The non-profit Go! Malawi continues to raise funds for education programs, which support orphans and other vulnerable children in rural Malawi, Africa. Go! Malawi helps educate orphaned children in order to give them a “hand-up” and a chance at a productive life.

The "Lucky Leprechaun" race is the third in the series and the St. Patrick’s Day race has prizes, giveaways and a unique prize for the best dressed in green.

Walkers, runners and well-behaved dogs are welcome to join the event for registration from 8:30 to 10 a.m. One also can pre-register at RunSignUp.com, Active.com or via go-malawi.org.

Adults also can enjoy green beer from Trackside Station following the race.

The annual 5K race series is organized by local volunteers from Team Go! Malawi. This team consists of local walkers and runners who share a common vision: “To Run With a Purpose, For a Purpose.”

They challenge themselves to be physically fit and to make a positive global change by supporting Go! Malawi. They are looking for a few more team members to join them in their destination marathon or half-marathon in the fall.

Those interested in running for the team or joining Team Go! Malawi should email 5K race series director Andrew Bonarrigo at masonman321@yahoo.com, or Go! Malawi board members Reade Brower at reade@freepressonline.com or Janet Littlefield at janet@go-malawi.org, the organization’s executive director.
