“Cove Light” is an acrylic and soft pastel on panel by Sally Loughridge.

Rockland — South Bristol artist Sally Loughridge is showing new paintings this month at the downtown Island Institute store, Archipelago. Her oil and soft pastel paintings reflect a continual fascination and visual conversation with the natural elements of Maine's Midcoast.

Loughridge has exhibited in Archipelago for 11 years. In 2008, she had a solo show, “Coastal Edges,” in the Archipelago Fine Arts Gallery.  In 2010, she returned to the gallery as part of “Monhegan Perspectives III,” a small group show by the Monhegan Six painters. She teaches soft pastel painting privately and creates original jewelry designs based on nature's palette.

Archipelago is home to handmade art, craft and design representing the very best of Maine's islands and coast. For more information about Loughridge's artwork or Archipelago, call 596-0701. For more information about the artist, visit sallyloughridge.com.
