New plants variety of petunia: “Double Trouble.”

Rockport — Local plant retailer Hammon Buck returns to showcase 2014’s newest plants at Merryspring Nature Center Tuesday, Feb. 25, at noon.

Buck will introduce the audience to new hybridized plants for 2014, all of which have passed through rigorous consumer and regional testing periods. Buck deems 2014 the “year of the hydrangea,” and will showcase many new varieties now available for retail. He will also cover a wide variety of new annuals, perennials and fruits all hitting the market this year.

Buck started Plants Unlimited in 1978 and enjoys introducing new plants to the local gardening scene. A 1977 graduate of Cornell University, Buck is past President of the Maine Landscaping and Nursery Association and a former Board Member of the Garden Centers of America. Plants Unlimited is a member of the Independent Garden Centers of Maine.

This talk part of the 2014 Winter Talk series at Merryspring, co-sponsored by Allen Insurance and Financial and The First. Merryspring is located at the end of Conway Road just off Route 1 by the Hannaford plaza.

Admission to Tuesday Talks is free for members of Merryspring, with a nominal fee of $5 for non-members.
