Lofting workshop at The Apprenticeshop

Apr 02, 2014
A lofting workshop begins Tuesday, April 15 at The Apprenticeshop in Rockland.

Rockland — For four evenings, April 15, 17, 22, and 24, The Apprenticeshop is hosting a lofting workshop lead by Mike Geer, an early graduate of The Apprenticeshop, adventurer and professional boatbuilder.

Lofting is the first and an important step in building a traditional wooden boat. Get ready to begin an adventure in traditional wooden boatbuilding.

The course includes learning how to read a table of offsets, to use molds and patterns and to develop lines. Students will deepen their understanding of how to translate and draw boat plans to full size in multiple perspectives.

The Apprenticeshop offers a wide array of workshops, multi-day courses, and nine-month long programs to educate and encourage boat enthusiasts and builders. For more information about any of courses, please call 594-1800 or visit apprenticeshop.org.
