On Saturday, November 3rd, the Rockport Masonic Center was buzzing with activity as the members of Amity Lodge #6 of Camden and St. Paul's Lodge #82 of Rockport celebrated their Special Ladies with a free luncheon.

Jeff Sukeforth, Special Ladies Coordinator for the lodges, explained that "Special Ladies is our term of endearment for the widows of our members. They are all special to us and we try to celebrate them as a group twice a year with a luncheon and some entertainment". This years luncheon consisted of baked ham, mashed potatoes, peas and corn and was topped off with home made apple crisp.

The ladies definately enjoy their meal at the center and also got into the musical entertainment which was provided by Nan Jones and the Rusty Hinges.

The Masons will get together on December 1st, at 8am, begining with a family breakfast after which they will make up fruit baskets for the Special Ladies as well as Brother Masons who may not be able to get out to join them for meetings.

Jeff said each year they make up between 40 and 45 baskets of different fruits and add a little something special in the way of a jar of home made quince jelly from Herb Annis' kitchen and a jar of home made maple syrup from Tom Cox's sugar house. All members of the two lodges are invited to join in the family breakfast, prepare the baskets and deliver them to the Special Ladies and Brothers.
