Thomaston — Filming began earlier this year on “The Girl with the Red Purse,” an independent film project about a Sept. 22, 1982 death on Vinalhaven. Local videographer Rick Winslow is using local talent and locations and hopes to be into post-production by spring.

Winslow’s team captured a scene Nov. 3 on the ferry to Vinalhaven, the last to be filmed outdoors. Winslow said there is a some filming to do, but it will be indoors are it is getting difficult “to make it look like late September … A shivering actress we do not need either!”

A clip of the ferry scene has been posted on YouTube. For more information about the film, visit its Facebook page.
