Portland — Carolyn Brown of Appleton has been named an Outstanding Maine Art Educator 2013 by the Maine Art Education Association. She was honored during an awards ceremony March 2 at the Portland Museum of Art. Argy Nestor of Union, Arts Specialist at the Department of Education, was selected as Art Advocate of the Year by the MAEA. Also named as an Outstanding Maine Art Educator for 2013 was Nancy Lloyd-Fitch of Orono.

The late-afternoon ceremony was part of a Youth Art Month reception held at the downtown museum. Every year, PMA host works by elementary and secondary school students throughout the state. This year’s exhibition, which runs through March, includes two works from Camden Hills Regional High School, where Brown teaches. For more information, visit portlandmuseum.org.
