Lobstering author K. Stephens of The Ghost Trap, Friday, July 25th, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Beyond The Sea Book Festival at Lincolnville Beach
Friday July 25th, kicks off a literary weekend at the Beyond the Sea Book Festival at Lincolnville Beach. On Friday, K. Stephens will be on hand to talk about her debut novel, The Ghost Trap, an award-winning lobstering novel from 1-3 p.m.
K. Stephens's The Ghost Trap follows the haunting story of Jamie Eugley, a young lobsterman struggling with the grinding responsibilities of a head-injured fiancée and mounting trap wars in a fictional Midcoast based around Tenants Harbor, Spruce Head, Port Clyde and Friendship.
About the Author: A resident of Maine for 20 years, Stephens credits her diverse experience as the background material for her novel. “Only until I came to Maine and worked a bunch of crappy jobs, hung out with boat builders, fishermen, artists, sailors, freaks and geeks, did I find my perfect subject matter,” she says. Her work on this novel spanned eight years with multiple lobstermen consulting on it, including James Acheson, author of The Lobster Gangs of Maine. The novel won several awards, including as a finalist in the Literary Fiction category of the National Best Books 2009 Awards, sponsored by USA Book News.
