Lobster Festival Open Juried Art Show
Rockland — Registration for the 67th Maine Lobster Festival Open Juried Art Show, sponsored by Camden National Bank, will take place Monday, July 28. Artists are asked to bring their works to the ATM entrance of Camden National Bank, at the corner of Main and Park streets, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Artists may enter as many as two pieces with a size limitation of 22-by-28 inches. Artwork must be framed, wired and ready for hanging; exhibitors also are asked to supply one display easel. Children/students entries should be matted and shrink-wrapped.

Fees for registration are as follows. In the amateur and professional divisions, the fee is $20 for up to two works. The fee for students, both elementary and high school, is $5 for up to two works. First, second, third place and honorable mention prizes will be awarded in both the professional and amateur divisions in the media categories of oil paint; water media including watercolor, acrylic and gouache; other media that may include chalk, pastel, ink, graphite, collage, colored pencil and prints; photography; and sculpture. Student, high school ages 14-18 and elementary 5-13, receive a ribbon for participation and each division is awarded the four tiers of awards.
There are special awards given in honor of two artists who had a real impact on art as part of the annual festival: the Eddie Harriman Award given for best representation of this year’s festival theme, which is "Lobster Livin' — The Families Behind the Industry"; and the Betty Kinney Award for best coastal scene.
Following registration July 28, the judging by a panel of three judges will take place Tuesday, July 29. The Maine Lobster Festival and the Open Juried Art Show open Wednesday, July 30; the art work may be viewed in Camden National Bank’s and participating downtown merchants’ windows throughout the festival. Award winners were be contacted Friday, Aug. 1. Art pieces are to be picked up from the bank and storefront windows Monday, Aug. 4, between 10 a.m. and noon.
