Lobster Festival offers scholarships

The Rockland Festival Corporation will be accepting applications for the Maine Lobster Festival/Ken Black Memorial Scholarships.

There will be three scholarships given this year: one for $2,000 in memory of Ken Black and two for $1,000 each from the Maine Lobster Festival.

Students eligible for these awards are high school seniors from Oceanside High School East in Rockland, Camden Hills Regional High School, Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro, Vinalhaven Schools, North Haven Community School, and Islesboro Central School.

Each student should enclose the following with their application: a 200-250 word essay explaining what they hope to accomplish in the future and the name of the college or university they will be attending; two references from school staff; and one personal reference

Applications must be received by the Rockland Festival Corporation by April 10. The scholarship will be awarded upon completion of the first college semester as long as a 2.5 grade point average was earned.
