Loads of Waldoboro First Baptist Church games on tap

YMCA, Laurel Wood Floors, Teludyne lead divisions

Waldoboro — It is still early in the season, but the action in the Waldoboro First Baptist Church Men's Basketball League continues at a fast pace.

Games in the popular league, which has 19 teams in three divisions, with squads traveling from as far away as Augusta, Wiscasset, Boothbay and Camden to compete, are played in the church gymnasium off Route 1 next to Moody's Diner in Waldoboro.

The recent scores, standings and individual statistical leaders include:

Division I

On Jan. 17, Scrubs beat YMCA 69-58, Leighton bested Destiny 82-57 and Ship City upended Kay Construction 70-65.

Standings — YMCA 4-1, Ship City 4-1, Kay Construction 3-2, Leighton Associates 3-2, Free Press 2-3, Destiny 1-5, Free Press 1-3 and Scrubs 1-4.

On Jan. 15, Denman Builders outlasted Insanity 64-58, Laurel Wood Floors upended Warriors 72-58 and Midcoast Masonary beat Lincoln County News 51-39.
