Lincolnville PD investigates mailbox explosion
Lincolnville — On Thursday, Aug. 30 around 7 a.m. Lincolnville Police Chief Ron Young responded to a report of a mailbox that was "blown-up" at a home "right at the end" of Thurlow Road.
Young said the mailbox was "blown off it's post and sitting in the road," he declined to comment on the manner of the explosion, citing an ongoing investigation.
"[the mailbox] was shredded," he said.
Young said he suspects the vandalism may be a "prank" perpetrated by teenagers, he said no other mailboxes on or near Thurlow Rd. were similarly damaged. Young has since liaised with staff at Camden Hills Regional High School, putting them on alert for any pertinent information that may be "overheard."
Anyone with information about the incident should call Lincolnville Police Chief Ron Young at 763-3555.
