Library, CMCA collaborate after school

Oct 02, 2012

Rockport — The Center for Maine Contemporary Art and Rockport Public Library will present a new collaborative program for children, ArtLab StoryLab. This program will meet at CMCA, 162 Russell Ave., for three Tuesdays: Oct. 16, 23 and 30 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Liza Walsh, the children’s librarian at Rockport Public Library, will read a fairy tale, both the traditional and contemporary version to show the variations involved in storytelling. After the story, Marcie Jan Bronstein, artist and ArtLab instructor, will lead children in a dynamic art project that stems from the tale.

This program is free, but requires advance registration as space is limited to 10 students. Reservations can be made by calling the library at 236-3642 or sending email to lwalsh@rockport.lib.me.us. To see full library program descriptions and a calendar of events, visit rockport.lib.me.us.

Children who attend this program from Camden-Rockport Elementary School can take the bus directly to CMCA. ArtLab is supported in part by the Davis Foundation, Camden National Bank, the Milton and Sally Avery Arts Foundation and individual donors.
