Lewiston woman indicted for smuggling drugs into prison

Warren — A Lewiston woman was indicted last week, accused of smuggling drugs into the Maine State Prison.

Stacy L. Smith, 36, was charged by indictment with Class B trafficking in drugs, conspiracy to deal drugs, trafficking in prison contraband, and possession of drugs. The indictment was issued Feb. 7 but sealed until she was arrested later in the week.

The indictment alleges she smuggled Suboxone into the prison in Warren Nov. 7, 2014.

Bail was set at $500 unsecured.

Smith was one of eight people indicted by the Knox County grand jury and the only one that was sealed pending an arrest.
