Appleton — District 44 State Rep. Jethro Pease, R-Morrill, presented a legislative sentiment to Board of Selectmen Chairman Donald Burke Tuesday night, Dec. 10, at the Town Office.

Pease and state Sen. Ed Mazurek, D-Rockland, who represents Senate District 22, co-sponsored the sentiment congratulating Burke on receiving the Maine Municipal Association's Ethel Kelly Memorial Award, which honors a municipal official who has devoted his or her life to local government.

In a phone interview, Pease said Mazurek was not able to attend the presentation Tuesday. However, he said he felt the senator would share his feelings about bestowing the honor.

"Of all the things we do, being able to recognize citizens who are outstanding in their community is one of the best things we do."
