Natural Beekeeping Using Top Bar Hives – A Weekend Intensive with Christy Hemenway This weekend class will send participants home with the confidence that they can keep bees naturally -- without chemicals -- by supporting the bees’ natural systems. The class textbook is "The Thinking Beekeeper - A Guide to Natural Beekeeping in Top Bar Hives," written by the instructor. Copies of the book will be available for $25 the first day of class or in advance at goldstarhoneybees.com. A light repast will be provided in the morning; bring a bag lunch each day. Herbs for Stress, Anxiety and Pain Relief with L. Jaye Bell Stress, anxiety and chronic pain are rampant in our culture, but true relief of these ills is not found where we often look. Discover a gentler way to address these issues with herbs, living foods, and practical coping techniques to help the body rebalance. This allows us to listen to the body’s wisdom through the message of pain. We will also learn to prepare herbs as teas, tonics and tinctures for optimum health. CPR/AED/ Standard First Aid – Adult & Pediatric (child & infant) with Andrew Eckman Based on the 2010 International Consensus Guidelines for cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiac Care, this course is designed to certify individuals in First Aid, CPR and AED. It provides clear, concise direction on how to perform CPR and use an AED during emergency, current information on injuries and illnesses, and skill drills. This course is approved by the Maine DHHS for day care providers, BMV for driver education Instructors, and the Coast Guard for maritime licensing. Class begins Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 6 to 9 p.m. for two weeks. Course Fee: $74.
Gentle Kundalini Yoga for Women with Melina Yáñez Open to women of all ages. An evening of Kundalini Yoga kriyas (yoga sets) and meditations, specifically focused on women’s health of body, mind and spirit. Wear loose clothing and avoid eating or having strong caffeine for at least two hours prior to the class. Also bring a yoga mat or a towel and a water bottle. Chairs will be provided for those who are unable to sit on the floor. Beginners to yoga are welcome!
