Lasansky studio adds dance ensemble
Rockport — Dancer/choreographer/educator Jimena Lasansky will resume dance classes Monday, Sept. 9, at her Lasansky Studio of Dance, home to the Lasansky Dance Theater Ensemble, on Old County Road.
Last September, Lasansky moved from her Lincolnville studio, where she had been conducting dance classes and workshops for more than 30 years, to her new location. This year, the Lasansky Studio of Dance will be joined by the Dance Theater Ensemble in a performance including premieres, as well as dances from the ensemble’s repertoire, at the Camden Opera House on April 12. 2014.
Classes in creative movement, ballet, pointe, modern dance, choreography and stretch/strength/endurance are offered Mondays through Thursdays for beginners through advanced students of all ages. Added to the schedule is creative movement for 4- and 5-year-olds, ballet for adults and modern dance for 8- to 11-year-olds. Private lessons, school residencies and choreography take place year-round.
Lasansky is a well-known artist-in-residence in schools throughout Maine, New England and New York. She is a member of the MaineArtistAccess program of the Maine Arts Commission and director/choreographer of the Lasansky Dance Theater Ensemble. Registration for classes is in progress.
