'Lacrosse Day' scheduled for May 17 at Camden HillsGames, clinics, food, fun expected during free event
Rockport — It will be a lacrosse gala, of sorts, an event full of games, clinics and fun on Saturday, May 17 at Camden Hills Regional High School. The event is free
Camden Hills will host a day of lacrosse, with four games including the Windjammer girls and boys varsity and jayvee squads. In addition, free youth clinics will be held on an adjacent field, a cookout will take place at midday and a youth shooting contest will be held during halftime of the boys varsity match.
Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in Maine, and it is experiencing rapid growth in the Midcoast due to Pen Bay Lacrosse, Camden Hills, Oceanside and now a dedicated indoor/outdoor program being developed by The Pitch (the indoor sports facility being built in Warren), said Thor Emory, assistant coach at CHRHS and the program director for The Pitch.
“Lacrosse Day is a fun way to display the sport locally and to support the high school programs in particular," Emory said. "The sport is on the move here and it is exciting. We hope that the community will come out and enjoy the games, clinics, food and fun."
