Kurt Alan Anderson Named Development Officer / Grants Writer at Unity College
Unity, Maine – A professional with extensive development, non-profit, project management and grant writing experience has been named to a newly created position.
Kurt Alan Anderson has will serve as Development Officer / Grants Writer at Unity College. The new position within the Development Department will be overseen by Executive Vice President Dr. Melik Peter Khoury.
Anderson will provide grant writing services in service to college-wide goals; develop profiles on new foundations, agencies at the local, state and federal level levels; and serve as project manager for a variety of print and web projects related to college wide initiatives. He will update profiles on organizations with which Unity College has existing relationships, and match the interests of foundations with funding priorities of the College for mutual benefit.
In addition to managing outreaches to foundations, Anderson will prepare grant proposals; serve as an active member of the Development office; maintain a portfolio of selected gift prospects; work with campus constituents on gathering information for special project proposals; and develop cultivation / solicitation strategies, among related duties.
Most recently Anderson served as Land Project Coordinator for Maine Farmland Trust, where he drafted and managed public grants; collaborated with professionals to develop and implement purchase and sale agreements, options to buy, agricultural easements , among other duties.
Additionally, he served as a Regional Biologist for Ducks Unlimited, providing technical assistance to landowners and land managers while identifying and prioritizing habitat restoration opportunities.
Anderson holds a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Wildlife from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan; and a Master of Science degree in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware.
