Rockland — The Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to and reported the following calls from June 10-16.
An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.
June 10:
Deputy Paul Spear responded to a report of a structure fire in Friendship. Upon arrival, Spear found that two sheds were fully inflamed. Friendship Fire responded and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.
Deputy Matt Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Union involving two vehicles, one of which backed into the other. Non-reportable damage was sustained.
Deputy John Palmer responded to assist Thomaston Police Officer Michael Blais at the scene of a motor vehicle crash in which the operator was arrested for operating under the influence. This is a Thomaston Police Department case.
Deputy Palmer conducted a radar detail in Warren. No violations were noted.
Deputy Elwell responded to a trespassing complaint in Union. The subjects involved were located and moved along after being issued a warning.
Deputy John Hansen began an investigation of harassment in Warren. Both subjects involved were issued a warning for same.
Deputies Spear and Paul Pinkham responded to a report of criminal mischief in South Thomaston. Two juvenile males were issued summonses for same.
June 11:
Deputy Pinkham arrested Mark Gagne, 29, of Friendship on a probation hold. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Deputy Hansen responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Owls Head involving a single vehicle backing into a pole. Reportable damage was sustained.
Deputy Hansen began an investigation of harassment in Hope. Once the suspect is located, a warning will be issued for same.
Deputy Hansen began an investigation of harassment in St. George. All subjects involved were issued a warning for same.
Deputies Spear and Hansen responded to an assault in Warren. Charges are pending for the suspect once located.
Deputies Hansen and Spear responded to assist Thomaston Police Department officers at the scene of a reported burglary in progress. The area was searched and cleared without incident.
June 12:
Deputy Spear responded to assist Thomaston Police Department Officer Shaw in locating two vehicles reported to be racing. The vehicles were located and held for the arrival of Officer Shaw. This is a Thomaston Police Department case.
Deputy Palmer conducted a radar detail in Warren. No violations were noted.
Deputy Palmer responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving two vehicles, one of which rear-ended the other. Reportable damage was sustained.
Deputies Spear and Lt. Kirk Guerrette responded to assist Rockland Police Department officers at the scene of several subjects fighting. Upon arrival, the subjects were separated and held for Rockland officers. This is a Rockland Police Department case.
Deputy Dave Johnson responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Appleton involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Non-reportable damage was sustained.
June 13:
Deputy Spear, with the assistance of Thomaston Police Department Officer Robbie Shaw, responded to a report of a domestic in Tenants Harbor. Subsequent to this response, Joshua Porter, 30, of Tenants Harbor was arrested on a charge of domestic violence assault. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Deputy Spear responded to a report of a domestic on Vinalhaven. Upon arrival and after speaking to the parties involved, this was deemed a verbal argument only and the parties separated.
Deputy Elwell arrested Laura Winchenbach, 32, of Ellsworth on two outstanding arrest warrants. The subject was taken to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Deputy Johnson began an investigation of harassment in Warren. The suspect was located and issued a warning for same.
June 14:
Deputy James Moore responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash on North Haven involving a single vehicle whose operator left the roadway causing her to strike a tree. The operator was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center for injuries sustained and there was reportable damage to the vehicle. Driver inattention was the key factor in this crash.
Deputy Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in St. George involving two vehicles, one of which backed into the other. Reportable damage was sustained.
Deputy Palmer began an investigation of harassment in Union. It was found that the suspect involved was already warned by law enforcement on harassment; therefore, she was issued a summons for same.
Deputy Moore assisted Vinalhaven Fire units at the scene of a structure fire by conducting traffic control.
Deputy Palmer responded to a report of a domestic in Union. Subsequent to this response, Vanessa Frisbee, 24, of Rockland was arrested on charges of domestic violence assault and violation of conditions of release. She was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Deputy Johnson responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Hope involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Reportable damage was sustained.
June 15:
Deputies Johnson and Pinkham responded to assist Thomaston Police Department Officer Daniel Quintero at the scene of two males fighting. Both subjects were warned on disorderly conduct.
Deputy Palmer responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving two vehicles, one of which rear-ended the other. Reportable damage was sustained. The key factor in this crash was driver inattention.
While on routine patrol, Deputy Pinkham came upon two people fighting in South Thomaston. After speaking to both subjects involved, this was deemed a verbal argument only and the parties were separated.
Subsequent to a traffic stop in Cushing, Deputy Spear arrested Randall Blasius, 20, of Friendship on charges of operating after suspension and failure to stop for an officer. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Deputy Johnson arrested Meredith Finley, 28, of Rockland on four outstanding arrest warrants and violating conditions of release. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Deputy Johnson arrested Paul Mahonen, 34, of South Thomaston on a charge of violation of conditions of release. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
June 16:
Deputy Pinkham arrested April Rawley, 38, on an outstanding arrest warrant. The subject was taken to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Deputy Spear began an investigation of theft in Warren. Charges are pending for the suspect in this case.
Deputy Pinkham arrested Thomas Yattaw, 43, of Owls Head on a probation violation. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.
Deputy Palmer began an investigation of theft in Hope. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.
During this one-week period, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office received 217 calls for service. Those calls that are not listed above are such calls as all-terrain vehicle problems, alarms, 911 hang-ups, along with nuisance, erratic vehicle operation and suspicious complaints.
