The Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to and reported the following calls from Jan. 22 through Jan. 28.

An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

Jan. 22

Deputy John Palmer began an investigation of harassment in Washington. The male subject involved was issued a warning for same.

Deputy Palmer responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Washington involving a single vehicle whose operator left the roadway, striking a tree. Tobby Stinson, 34, of Washington was arrested on charges of operating under the influence, violating conditions of release, unlawful possession of scheduled drugs, leaving the scene of an accident, failing to report accident by quickest means, operating with an expired license and failing to have insurance. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Deputy John Hansen responded to a report of a distressed female in Owls Head. The female was located and voluntarily went to Pen Bay Medical Center via Rockland EMS for an evaluation.

Deputy Dave Johnson responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Hope involving a single vehicle whose operator lost control, causing him to leave the roadway. Reportable damage was sustained.

Deputy Hansen began an investigation of burglary in South Thomaston. This is still an active investigation with one suspect named.

Jan. 23

Deputy James Moore responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in South Thomaston involving a single vehicle with extensive damage. Upon arrival, it was found that the occupants left the scene. Kevin Richards, 21, of South Thomaston was arrested on charges of operating motor vehicle after revocation, leaving the scene of an accident, failing to report accident and violating conditions of release. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Deputy Matt Elwell began an investigation of theft in Union. Charges are pending for the suspect involved.

Deputy Elwell began an investigation of threatening in Hope. The two suspects involved have been issued warnings for same.

Jan. 24

Deputies Johnson, John Hansen and Sgt. Michael Sprague responded to a report of a domestic in Washington. Subsequent to this response, Allen Shenett, 46, of Washington was arrested on a charge of domestic violence assault. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Deputy Moore responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Appleton involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Non-reportable damage was sustained.

Deputy Larry Hesseltine responded to a report of an adult male threatening to harm himself on North Haven. Upon arrival and after speaking to the male involved, it was determined that he be transported to PBMC for an evaluation. The subject went voluntarily via North Haven Rescue.

Jan. 25

Deputy Moore arrested Charlotte Shellman, 37, of Rockland on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Deputy Elwell responded to an erratic vehicle complaint in Rockport. Contact was made with the operator of the vehicle and a warning was issued.

Deputy Nathaniel Jack arrested Krysti Hallett, 28, of Waldoboro on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Jan. 26

While on routine patrol in St. George, Deputy Jack came upon a stopped vehicle with a female driver that appeared to be passed out. Valerie Corbett, 43, of Cushing was arrested on a charge of OUI drugs. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Deputy Elwell began an investigation of burglary in Union. This is still an active investigation with no suspects or leads at this time.

Deputy Steve Grasso arrested Alan Adams, 42, of North Haven on a charge of violating conditions of release. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Deputies Jack and Lt. Kirk Guerrette responded to a report of a domestic in South Thomaston. Upon arrival and after speaking to the subjects involved, the parties separated for the evening.

Deputies Jack and Lt. Guerrette responded to a report of an assault in Owls Head. The two females involved were issued no contact warnings and the aggressor was issued a summons for assault.

Deputies Jack and Lt. Guerrette responded to a report of an under-age drinking party in Owls Head. Subsequent to this response, Todd Nickles, 19, of Owls Head was arrested on a charge of furnishing a place for minors to consume/possess alcohol. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Lt. Guerrette responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Camden involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Reportable damage was sustained.

Jan. 27

Deputy Palmer began a fraudulent document investigation in South Thomaston. The suspect in the case was issued a notice for same.

Several responses were made throughout the county for vehicles off the road due to the storm. All were non-reportable.

Jan. 28

Deputy Palmer arrested Trevor Hansen, 27, of Rockland on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Deputy Palmer arrested Robert Williams, 61, of Warren on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Deputy Hansen arrested Troy Crane, 20, of Tenants Harbor on an outstanding arrest warrant.

Deputy Palmer began an investigation of a motor vehicle theft in Owls Head. The three juvenile females involved were issued summonses for their offenses.

Deputies Hansen and Sgt. Sprague responded to a 911 hang-up call in St. George. Subsequent to this response, Helen Kennedy, 48, of Rockland was arrested on a charge of domestic violence assault. The subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

In total, during this one-week period, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office received 178 calls for service. Those calls that are not listed above are such calls as all-terrain vehicle problems, alarms, 911 hang-ups, along with nuisance, erratic vehicle and suspicious complaints.
