Rockland — The Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to the following incidents June 30 to July 6:

An arrest or summons does not constitute a finding of guilt. An individual charged with a crime is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at criminal proceedings.

June 30

Deputies Paul Spear and Sgt. John Palmer responded to a report of a traffic hazard in Appleton. As a result of this response, an underage drinking party was discovered. Several juveniles were issued summons for same.

Deputy Lance Mitchell responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in the Cushing involving a single vehicle. The operator and two passengers were all transported to Pen Bay Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash.

Deputy Paul Pinkham responded to a report of a male threatening to harm himself in Appleton. The male was located and voluntarily went to PBMC for an evaluation.

Deputy Matt Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving two vehicles. Reportable damage sustained.

Spear arrested Christopher Chandler, 33, of Rockland on a probation violation. Subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

July 1

Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in South Thomaston involving two vehicles. Reportable damage sustained.

Detective Don Murray responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash Friendship involving a single vehicle. Reportable damage sustained.

Elwell began a harassment investigation in Friendship. The suspect was located and issued a written notice for same.

Following a traffic stop in St. George, Deputy John Hansen issued a summons for no insurance.

Palmer arrested Laura Billings, 48, of Washington on a charge of harassment. She was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

July 2

Elwell responded to assist Rockport Police Department Sgt. Travis Ford at the scene of two disorderly juvenile males. This is a Rockport police case.

Sgt. James Moore responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Washington involving two vehicles. Reportable damage sustained.

Elwell conducted a radar detail in Cushing. One warning for speed was issued.

Deputy Nathaniel Jack responded to assist Thomaston police officers at the scene of an operating under the influence traffic stop. This is a Thomaston police case.

July 3

Following a traffic stop in Union, Palmer issued a summons for an inspection violation.

Palmer conducted radar detail in Union. One warning for speed was issued.

Elwell conducted radar detail in South Thomaston. No violations were noted.

Spear responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in Warren involving a single vehicle striking a deer. No damage was caused to the vehicle.

July 4

Spear responded to assist Thomaston Patrol Officer Max King at the scene of a disorderly female. The female was taken into protective custody and transported to PBMC for an evaluation by King. This is a Thomaston case.

Pinkham responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash in South Thomaston involving two vehicles. Reportable damage sustained.

Palmer responded to a report of an erratic vehicle in Warren. The vehicle and operator were located, showed no signs of impairment and warned for inadequate tires.

Following a traffic stop in South Thomaston, Jack issued a summons for no insurance.

Jack arrested Ray Upham, 47, of St. George on a charge of violating condition of release. He was taken to Knox County Jail without incident.

Palmer responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in Warren involving a single vehicle. The operator was issued a summons for failing to report accident by quickest means.

Following a traffic stop in Union, Palmer issued a summons for operating after suspension.

Jack began a harassment investigation in Union. The suspect was located and issued a warning for same.

July 5

Elwell responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in St. George involving a single vehicle. The operator was issued summons for leaving the scene of an accident and failing to report accident by quickest means.

Hansen responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in St. George involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Non-reportable damage sustained.

Hansen responded to a report of an erratic vehicle in St. George. The vehicle and operator were located and a warning was issued.

After a traffic stop in tWashington, Jack issued a summons for speed.

Jack responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a single vehicle striking a deer. Non-reportable damage sustained.

Elwell and Arthur Smith conducted a countywide underage drinking detail. One summons was issued for same.

Hansen and Palmer conducted a countywide operating under the influence detail. No violations were noted.

July 6

Palmer conducted radar detail in Union. No violations were noted.

Hansen responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident in Port Clyde involving two vehicles. Edward Long, 28, of Portland was arrested on a charge of operating after supsension. Subject was transported to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Palmer responded to a report of an erratic vehicle in Union. The vehicle and operator were located and a warning was issued for same.

In total, this one-week period, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office received 244 calls for service. Those calls that are not listed above are such calls as ATV problems, alarms, 911 hang-ups, along with nuisance, erratic vehicle and suspicious complaints.
