Rockland — The Knox County grand jury on July 11 handed up 40 indictments with 87 charges to 35 defendants. Some defendants got more than one indictment.

Roy A. Allen, 44, Rockland, was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of domestic violence assault, domestic violence criminal threatening, domestic violence terrorizing, and disorderly conduct.

On March 12, he knowingly struck his victim with a dangerous weapon: a shovel or shovel handle, the indictment said. The count of domestic violence assault was added because Allen's conduct was committed against a family or household member.

Eight days later, on March 20, he reportedly physically injured the same household member, and he was charged with criminal threatening. He also was charged with terrorizing for placing his victim in fear of bodily injury.
