Knox County Fish & Game derby Feb. 10

Ice-fishing event open to children and adults

Hope — The annual Knox County Fish and Game Association's ice-fishing derby will be Sunday, Feb. 10 at Beaver Lodge, Route 235, weather and ice conditions permitting,

Registration of fish begins at noon and all fish must be weighed and registered by 5 p.m. Registering fish is a $5 fee.

The derby will award prizes in youth and adult categories, including cash prizes for adults of $100 for the largest fish, sponsored by Chuckie Farmer's Bait Shop in Hope, as well as $75 for second prize and $50 for third prize.

Trophies will be awarded for all youth categories.

In addition there will be a raffle with the grand prize of an ice auger, donated by Prock Marine. Other raffle prizes include gift certificates from local businesses, jackets, hats. lap blankets, bait boxes, fishing poles, flash lights and additional items.

Derby raffle tickets are on sale at the following locations: Lincoln's Country Store, Warren; Johnson's Sporting Goods, Rockland; Tolman Pond Market, Rockport; Chuckie Farmer's Bait Shop, Hope; Mic Mac Market, Union; Four Corner Variety, Union; and Medomak Gun, Union.

Raffle winners need not be present to win.

Hot food, beverages and desserts will be available at the event, with proceeds to benefit the Knox County Fish and Game Association, which has held this family-friendly event for more than 70 years.
