Knit-Wits wrap presents for Meals on Wheels recipients

Rockland — The Knit-Wits gathered at the Methodist Home in Rockland to wrap previously knit and crocheted lap robes for seniors, to be delivered with Meals on Wheels.

Participants present were Jeanne Bulanchuk, Bianca D’Amato, Mary Hunter, Louise Kinney, Lynne Lofman, Karen O’Jala, Mickey McKeever, Terry Morris, Dorothy Rausch, Alice Fowlie, Dot Mills and Mona Ingraham. Knitters Phyllis Prescott, Barbara Widdecombe and Evelyn Holman were unavailable for the event.

Packages were Christmas wrapped for delivery to homes in Knox County.

The Knit-Wits have been knitting hats and mittens for Head Start Children in Knox County for years and previously knit hats and mittens for Head Start children in Lincoln and Waldo counties as well. They also crochet and knit lap robes for seniors. The Knit-Wits are under the auspices of Retired Senior Volunteer Program, or RSVP, located in Rockland.

Following the wrapping, the Knit-Wits went to The Offshore restaurant in Rockland to enjoy the annual Christmas lunch and gift exchange.
