Kiwanis Christmas Trees Ready For Sale!

The annual Kiwanis Christmas Tree sale has begun, with a large variety of sizes available at the Maverick Street Plaza, [J.C. Penney and Hannaford’s], in Rockland.  With a plan to sell up to 650 trees through the season, volunteers will staff the sales lot every day until all the trees are gone.Hours of operation will begin at 9:00 AM on weekends, and 11:00 AM on weekdays, with sales continuing under the lights each night for those who enjoy the special experience of selecting a Christmas tree after dark.

Trees will be priced according to size:  Trees; 6-8 ft., $30; and 8-12 ft., $45.  A limited number of smaller trees will also be available. Proceeds from the sale of Kiwanis Christmas trees are used to support the Kiwanis Scholarship Program for graduating high school seniors who reside in Knox County; and for funding of other special programs.

According to Kiwanis president Amy Pease of Union, the annual Christmas Tree sale is the heritage project for the Rockland community service organization. Pease added that the local group has been selling Christmas trees since the 1950’s, and is one of the largest Kiwanis fundraising events of the year.
