KIWANIANS ATTEND DIVISION-WIDE COUNCIL MEETING
Kiwanis President Amy Pease of Union, past president Janet Page of Owls Head, president-elect Katie Tarbox of Spruce Head, and past lieutenant governor/past president Gordon Page of Owls Head, all members of the Kiwanis Club of Rockland, participated with several other members of Division 4 of the Kiwanis District of New England & Bermuda for a Division Council meeting at the Albion home of Lieutenant Governor Kim Michaud and her husband Paul on January 20th
The event’s agenda touched on a variety of topics including membership growth; future leadership within the division; the upcoming regional conference and the Kiwanis International worldwide service initiative, the ELIMINATE Project.
While each Kiwanis Club decides the direction of its own local community service efforts, the clubs work together in a broader sense in order to remain connected to the division, and to support Kiwanis district projects like the Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Institute at the New England Medical Center; and the Kiwanis International campaign to virtually eliminate Maternal/Neonatal Tetanus.
Kiwanis clubs sponsor other organizations, like Circle K Clubs at the college level; Key Clubs at the high school level; and Builders Clubs at the middle school level. Kiwanis clubs also sponsor and work closely with Aktion Clubs, which are Kiwanis clubs for adults with disabilities.
The five clubs in Division 4 meet routinely and independently in their own areas for project planning, networking and leadership development. The Augusta club meets at the Senator Inn in Augusta; the Greater Pittsfield club meets at Anglers Restaurant in Newport; the Rockland club meets at the Samoset Resort in Rockport; the Waldo County club meets at the Mermaid Restaurant in Searsport; and the Waterville club meets at the Inland Hospital in Waterville.
Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
