Kim Y. Dewar

Nevarre, Fla. — Kim Young Dewar passed away April 2, 2017, after a brief illness.

Born in Rockland Aug. 30, 1953, she was the oldest daughter of Robert E. Young and Violet L. Young. Educated locally, she was a 1971 graduate of Rockland District High School. Following high school, she enlisted in the Navy, from which she was she was honorably discharged. Kim met her husband during this enlistment and they were married for more than 40 years before his untimely death in 2015.

Kim had an opportunity to return to Maine and renew old friendships and family relationships during the summer of 2016. She enjoyed this summer vacation very much, making plans to return "only when the temperature was above 70 degrees!"

Kim is survived by her only son, Robert Anthony Dewar, of Navarre, Fla.; her father and mother; Robert and Violet Young, of Rockland; her sisters, Vicki (Craig) Gamage of Warren, Deborah (Steven-deceased) Rogers of Warren, Katrina (Wayne) Gove of Massachusetts, Roberta (Jonathan) Scharff of New Jersey and Andree (Patrick) Toon of Virginia. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces and great-nieces and -nephews.

Kim will be thought of often, especially in the summer months to come.
