Karen's 'Energy 4 Life' Cancer 5K Run/Walk Sept. 29
Rockland — The first annual Karen's "Energy 4 Life" Cancer Run/Walk 5-kilometer event will be Saturday, Sept. 29 at 9 a.m. Snow Marine Park on Mechanic Street. The event is sponsored by Maritime Energy.
"We all have been affected in some way from this terrible disease and we want to do this run/walk to raise money, show support for the people who are fighting this horrible disease, and to also do this in memory of the ones near and dear to our hearts who we have lost," said Susan Ware Page, president of Maritime Energy, who lost her mother, Karen, to colon cancer in 2010.
Page said her mom and family started the Energy 4 Life program as a means to help others in their fight against cancer.
Money raised from the run/walk will go to the Energy 4 Life program and The Maine Cancer Foundation directed towards clinical research. The money raised will stay in Maine.
