Karen Marks Lemke
Lisbon Falls — Karen Marks Lemke, educator, author, historian and humanitarian, passed away peacefully July 28, 2013, with her friends and family by her side. It was her birthday, ending a remarkably full earthly life that began 65 years ago on July 28, 1948.
Karen was born in Rockland, the daughter of Maine Legendary Trooper “Captain Eddie” Marks and wife Geraldine.
Karen is survived by her husband Bill Lemke; her daughter, Larissa and partner Martin Menario; and her grandson, Collin Lemke. Karen leaves one aunt and uncle and many other relatives; and countless friends. She is predeceased by her brother Jack of Scottsville, Ky.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, Aug. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Conroy-Tully Crawford Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland. A 1 p.m. service will be held Saturday at the Irish Heritage Center, 34 Gray St., Portland. Interment will be private in Thomaston at a later date.
