Just a test: Seabright Dam emergency siren drill

Dec 13, 2012

Camden — Monday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m., the town of Camden will conduct a test of the Seabright Dam emergency siren. Seabright Dam is located on the Megunticook River in the vicinity of Mt. Battie Street.

The siren is a component of the Seabright Dam Emergency Action Plan and its purpose is to alert residents in the event Seabright Dam were to fail or appeared to be in danger of failing. In the event of an actual emergency, all low-lying areas adjacent to the Megunticook River downstream of Seabright Dam should be avoided.

For the purpose of this drill the siren will be activated and allowed to run for approximately one minute.

Any resident wishing to view a copy of the Seabright Dam Emergency Action Plan could do so at the Camden Public Safety Building located at 31 Washington St. If you have questions or concerns, contact Ross Parker at rparker@camdenmaine.gov or 236-7955.
