Junior Brown tickets on sale Jan. 17
Rockland — The Strand Theatre, 345 Main St., will open ticketing Friday, Jan. 17, for its Junior Brown concert in May. The legendary country music guitarist and singer/songwriter will perform Friday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m.
Although Brown plays such neo-traditional country styles as honky-tonk and Western swing, few of his performances finish without some blues and Tex-Mex tunes, as well as surf-rock instrumentals. The Guit-Steel, his own invention, is a double-necked instrument that combines standard guitar with steel guitar, allowing him to switch instruments quickly in mid-song while singing.
Brown has released nine studio albums in his career and has charted twice on the Billboard country singles charts. His music has been showcased on various TV shows and movie soundtracks, including “Me, Myself and Irene,” “SpongeBob SquarePants” and the 2005 “Dukes of Hazzard” remake, in which he also served as narrator.
Tickets for the general admission show are $20. The Strand balcony and lobby bars will be open for those ages 21-and-older with a valid ID. This concert is sponsored by Maine Magazine.
