June is Adopt-A-Cat Month and we're celebrating all month long with adoption specials. With dozens of kittens at the shelter and in foster care stealing the show, we don't want to lose sight of all of our wonderful adult cats waiting for homes. What do you do when a black cat crosses your path on Friday the 13th? Adopt it, of course! On June 13 and 14 all adult blacks cats or black and white cats will be fee waived. And, starting on Monday, June 16 through the 28, we will be having an Oldies But Goodies promotion where the adoption fee will be waived for all senior cats, 7 years or older. It's a great time to give an adult cat a loving home. Awesome cats like Lucy, our pet pick of the week. Lucy is a 3-year-old dilute Calico. She is a real beauty who is super friendly. She would be fine in a house with kids and other cats. Lucy will like to keep you company and "help" with your projects around the house.

Dine out for a cause Thursday, June 12 for our Seventh Annual Eat for Pete’s Sake fundraising event at one of the following local restaurants and they will donate a portion of their profits to help support homeless animals in our community: Badger Cafe & Pub, Blue Sky Cantina, Come Spring Cafe, Common House of Pizza, Craignair Inn and Restaurant, Harbor Gawker, Hatchet Mountain Publick House, Home Kitchen Cafe, In Good Company, Offshore Restaurant, Park Street Grille, and Water Dog Tavern. Eat for Pete's sake and for all the other animals at the shelter so they know where their next meal is coming from. Tell the restaurant you're there to eat for Pete. Thanks for your support. For more information and an updated list visit hskcme.org or contact Grace at events@hskcme.org.

Thank you to all who came out to help us at the shelter for our annual Clean Up and Cook Out. It was wonderful to have so many old time friends and new friends gather together to get some major sprucing up done. The place looks great! We had fun. Hope you did too!

Visit us at 17 Buttermilk Lane off Route 1 in Thomaston. We are open daily from 11 a.m to 5p.m, closed on Sundays.

Wish list: Canned cat food, large, black garbage bags, laundry detergent, 6-inch paper plates, Swiffer cleaning pads, stamps, new washing machine.
