‘Joni Mitchell’ documentary at library
Rockland — There will be a screening and discussion of the film “Joni Mitchell: Woman of Heart and Mind” Thursday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the Friends Community Room of Rockland Public Library, 80 Union St. A post-film discussion will be led by Bill Halpin and Saskia Huising.
Susan Lacy’s moving documentary about Joni Mitchell is a heartfelt account of the life of one of America's most acclaimed songwriters and performers. Mitchell’s story is told from her early years in Canada through her first failed marriage and through her various friendships and loves but, most of all, through her songs and her paintings.
Also seen are concert films and home movies of Mitchell with such co-workers and intimates as David Crosby, James Taylor, Graham Nash and David Geffen. “Woman of Heart and Mind” charts Mitchell’s musical career over four decades during which she embraced a variety of musical styles including folk, jazz and rock.
