Do you want to learn about the best foods to eat that will help you thrive and/or heal? Are you interested in taking a closer look at what a natural, preventative diet really is? Please join us on Tuesday, September 11, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Community Room at the Penobscot Bay YMCA to hear John Bagnulo, PhD speak on the “Origins and Evolution of the Human Diet”. There is no need to RSVP. Visit www.penbayhealthcare.org/pickercenter for more information or call 596-8950.
This lecture is an inquiry into what foods help restore our health. Bagnulo’s lecture will provide an overview of human physiology and how it is being influenced by the current Western diet. This talk will illuminate what foods are most responsible for chronic disease ( e.g. diabetes, blood sugar, gluten, digestion, celiac, cancer, high blood pressure, inflammation) which foods are most sorely missing, and how we can get back to a sustainable, truly supportive way of eating.
Bagnulo has a Masters of Public Health from the University of North Carolina, a PhD in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Maine. He lectures and teaches programs nationally in the area of nutrition and disease prevention/reversal. Bagnulo is a naturalist because of his understanding of the biological processes at work in the world and in our bodies and a nutritionist because of his ability to see how foods influence these processes and how these processes influence food. This program is co-sponsored by the Picker Family Resource Center and the Pen Bay YMCA located at 116 Union Street in Rockport in service to improving the health and quality of life of our community.
