‘Jekyll & Hyde — The Musical’
Rockland — Oceanside Theatre will open its inaugural summer season with “Jekyll & Hyde — The Musical” Friday, July 18. Performances will be Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. through July 26 plus a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday, July 27, at Oceanside High School East, 400 Broadway.
The production features alumni talent, some fresh faces and upper class students from Oceanside High School. Director Alison Machaiek said it is truly and all-star cast.
“It’s a wonderful cast of great vocals, energy and, best of all, the majority of the cast has experienced great success on this stage and has formed this unique ensemble,” she said.
As many students return from college, both theater majors and students of other studies say they miss it very much.
“This is an opportunity for Oceanside Theatre Kids to work with seasoned performers and it really kicks the performance stakes up a notch,” Machaiek said.
Featured in the cast are Dalton Pitman-Calhill as the title characters Jekyll and Hyde; Nick Mahar as Jekyll’s friend John Utterson; Maggie Machaiek as Emma Carew, Jekyll’s fiancée; and Ryan Jackson as her father, Sir Danvers Carew. Brighde Curtin portrays Lucy, a girl of the town who becomes the target of desire for Jekyll’s alternate personality, Edward Hyde.
Rounding out the talented cast are Mike Verrill, Mary Ann Giasson, Jason Lund, Ashley Tyler, Jeb Fontaine, Jordan Carpenter, Curran Grant, Pinky Curtin, Cole Chase, Kaila Harris, Shane Lavoie, Kasey Buretta, Ryan Calamari, Riley Pillsbury, Regan Billsingsley, Kasie Waters, Aaron Clarke, Willow Crawford Crudell, Ben Young, Kendra Finnegan, Molly Tobin, Sadie Bartlett, Chanel Courant, Samantha Calamari.
The top-notch tech crew includes Preston Spear, Justin Robinson and Jenny Carter. Vocal direction is by Barbra Hendricks. The pit band, led by Marlene Hall, includes Lynne Henry, Josh Tung, Emmanuel Tung, Chris Blum, Cole Barbour, Kathy Downing, Michaela Wright, Barbra Hendricks and Christine Simmonds.
Tickets, available at the door, will be $8, $6 for students and senior citizens.
