January events at Vose Library
Union — Cave explorer and photographer Peter Jones of Camden will give an hour-long Caving in the Guadalupe Mountains of New Mexico presentation Thursday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m. at Vose Library, 392 Common Road.
Jones has been exploring and photographing caves in the Guadalupe Mountains of New Mexico and West Texas for 45 years. Home of Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks, this mountain range is filled with some of the most beautiful caves in the entire world. Attendees will experience the awe and beauty of nature's finest underground artwork in the comfort of the Vose Library and hear stories of exploration and discovery from this award-winning photographer.
On Thursday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m., the library will host a Bring Your Own Device workshop to help patrons borrow downloadable audiobooks and e-books. Those who want to learn how to access the MARVEL! databases for magazine articles and more; or are having trouble using the services on their Kindles, iPads or mp3 players are invited to come to this hands-on workshop. Questions will be answered and participants will walk through the steps together. Bring devices, chargers and cables; and a laptop could also be helpful.
These programs are free and open to the public. For more information, call Vose Library at 785-4733.
