Jammin’, campin’ in the Velvet Lounge

Aug 08, 2014

Rockland — Rock City Cafe's Velvet Lounge music series will host two special evenings, a first performance and a farewell party. Rock City Café is downtown at 316 Main St.

On Friday, Aug. 15, the Midcoast Music Academy Summer Jam Session will run from 6 to 9 p.m. MCMA, located a block away on Main Street, will host an open mic/jam session where students and teachers alike will be jumping on stage and making some great music. Genres will range from classical to classic rock, jazz, blues, African drumming and who knows what else. Lunch service will extend until closing.

On Saturday, Aug. 16, Hot Pink Flannel's Camp Sunburn party will start at 9 p.m. and groove until midnight, thanks to music by Vistas. Cover charge is $5 for the 21-and-older event. Camp Sunburn promises everything the final day at summer camp brings— joy, happiness, tears and maybe even a scavenger hunt. It will be a fitting goodbye to Hot Pink Flannel’s Artica and Starcia, who are heading out soon for their next great adventure.
