J2H goes to Liberty to offer classes
Would you like to try non-impact aerobics, yoga, or snowshoeing? Or do you want to learn how to cook some healthier meals?
During February and March, you can try these Waldo County General Hospital free community wellness classes in Liberty.
The classes include:
• Non-Impact Aerobics on Wednesdays, Feb. 6 and March 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Walker School. The instructor is Deborah Keene, a Registered Yoga Teacher;
• Cooking class on Mondays, Feb. 11 and March 11, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center. The class will be led by Katie Morbito from the FoodCorps and Sumer Higgins, CHES;
• Yoga on Wednesdays, Feb. 27 and March 27, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Walker School. The class will be caught by Deborah Keene, a Registered Yoga Teacher; and
• Family Circuit Training, Wednesday, March 13, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Walker School. The class will be led by Lisa Newcomb.
There's no need to pre-register for the Yoga, aerobic classes, or family circuit training, just show up five minutes early at the class you'd like to attend, so you can fill out the liability waiver and sign the exercise roster and you're all set to begin! There are also three snowshoe hikes planned. On Saturday, Feb. 16, from 10 a.m. to noon, the Sheepscot Wellspring Land Alliance will lead a winter hike on Bog Brook Trail in Montville. On Saturday, March 9, from 10 a.m. to noon, the same group will lead a winter hike on the Eric Bruun Trail in Montville. On Saturday, March 23, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Health Educators Hester Kohl and Sumer Higgins will lead a snowshoe winter hike at Haystack Mountain in Liberty. For more information about where to meet, what you should bring and the availability of showshoes, contact Sumer Higgins at 338-9359.
All activities are for beginners and all indoor activities are for ages 9 and up, although a parent must accompany a child.
