Intuitive painting workshop at Farnsworth
Rockland — Farnsworth Art Museum will host a workshop on intuitive painting Saturday, Jan. 18. The program, which will be led by Elisa Hurley, will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Gamble Education Center, on the corner of Union and Grace streets.
This intuitive painting process will help rekindle a sense of childlike wonder about paint and paper and play. Participants will use tempera paints as if they were children, and see what emerges on the paper. The workshop is for both those who have considered painting, but never thought they could, and for trained artists who want to explore and expand.
Hurley is an artist, photographer and writer who lives on Mount Desert Island. For more than 10 years, she has been facilitating art and writing workshops in Maine for people of all ages. She completed Painting from the Source master’s training with Aviva Gold in Ojai, Calif.; and Kripalu in the Berkshires. She has a master's degree in art and museum education and is on the art faculty at Acadia Senior College. Her photography has been exhibited in galleries on Mount Desert Island, Ellsworth and North Haven.
