Inmate gets two years for padlock assault
Rockland — A former Maine State Prison inmate was sentenced to serve two additional years in custody for attacking and injuring a fellow prisoner with a padlock.
John R. Taylor, 21, originally from Bucksport, pleaded guilty to the aggravated assault charge and was sentenced by Justice Jeffrey Hjelm in Knox County Superior Court March 24.
He originally pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in November.
Taylor was convicted in March 2013 of robbery in Penobscot County Superior Court.
In October 2013, Taylor was charged with aggravated assault for the padlock attack that occurred in April 2013 at the Maine State Prison.
Taylor's earliest possible release date is December 2018, said court documents. He has been transferred to the Maine Correctional Center in Windham.
Attorney Gregory Snow represented Taylor.
