Spanish Cooking for Kids: In La Cocina With Kids

10 am- NOON, $40 (for 2 days)

A new course at Penobscot School this fall is "In La Cocina With

Kids." - Saturdays, November 3 and December 1, 10 a.m. to noon. The

class will be a mix of culture and language, with a focus on food,

and will be taught by Nohora Estes and Julie von Kamecke. It is geared

toward children who are starting to learn Spanish, ages 8-11.

Yummy dishes such as churros, paletas, chocolate caliente (hot

chocolate) are on the menu.

Estes is Spanish teacher (grades K-8) at The Riley School, since 1998.

She is a Columbian native.

Von Kamecke, "Sra V", founded the Spanish Program at Camden Rockport

Elementary school, where she teaches grades K-4. Julie is also a

Penobscot School Russian teacher and serves as the Chair of the

school's board of trustees.
