I HOPE THAT YOU WILL SIGN OFF THIS CHANGE

By Leonard Lookner | Oct 24, 2012

Is it any wonder that the first business that we see as we enter Camden from the south is a company that makes signs.  Our business community has been so obsessed with signage that the greatest economic impact has come from the building of these signs it is now one of the only manufacturing business in Town.  Everywhere we look in Camden these days there is a sign and still the Business community lobbies for more, when does it end?  When is enough enough?  I suggest now.  We have an article on the ballot, Article XI, that gives businesses in a number of zones more options to put up more signs. These signs will be bigger and more obtrusive.  I strongly urge that you join me and vote NO to this change.

Article VI will allow non conforming businesses that are in non conforming zones to increase up to 30 percent in size, the Planning Board tells us that it will only effect approximately 11 businesses.  Well, shouldn't this have been researched out so that we had more then an approximate?  Perhaps they should say it will affect at  least 11 businesses that we know of.  Look, we are all part of this community, business is good, business is up, we live in a great place that has continued to stay great because of the strictness and foresight of the zoning ordinance. Don't take this chance, there is much more to loose then there is to gain, join me in turning down these ill conceived  changes to the Camden Zoning ordinance.

I have no dog in this fight other then my passion for the community that I live in. Thank you for reading this and read the articles at the Town of Camden web site and make your own opinion.
