Waldoboro — Author Shonna Milliken Humphrey will speak Tuesday, Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. in the final program of the 2012 Friends of the Library speakers series at the Waldoboro Public Library, 958 Main St./Route 220.

Humphrey, former executive director of the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance, is the author of “Show Me Good Land,” a modern-day novel set in Aroostook County that was published last year by Down East Books. The book is a realistic portrait of people living in a once-thriving rural community that is now struggling. Humphrey writes with an authentic Maine voice that places her in the company of Richard Russo, Elizabeth Strout and Carolyn Chute.
