It's time to think about who you are going to vote for. Election Day is June 10 and will take place at Hope Town Hall located at Hope Corner. The polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Meet the Candidates
The following are seeking the office of the two positions for selectmen: Brittany Payson, Jim Blanchette, David Bosken, Ryan Entwistle and Wendy Pelletier. If you would like to know more about these five people plan to attend the Meet the Candidates night at Hope Fire Station May 29 at 7 p.m. The candidates will be there to answer any questions you have. Also there will be the candidates for the following positions: Budget committee Bill Jones, Joe Berry and Jean Ettlinger. This is a 3-year position. Also John Monroe for Road Commissioner, Kate Ryan for the one-year position of the School Board. There is also a 3-year position on the school board but no one has taken out papers. The regular town meeting will be June 16 at the Hope School at 7 p.m. There are two budget validation questions, one for the Five Town CSD and one for the Hope Elementary School plus many others.
Are available now, but you can not vote by absentee on voting day or town meeting day. Call the town office to get the correct details.
Pen Pal Tea
Last Thursday the Hope School held its yearly Pen Pal Tea. The adults got to meet the students they had been writing to for the year. This tea was well attended. Refreshments were served to all.
Special Town Meeting
Late Thursday night, May 22, a special town meeting was held pertaining to the budget for the Hope School. More than 40 people voted on some of the articles. Usually, this is a meeting that is very short but this meeting lasted more than 2 hours. See what you missed? Plan to attend next year.
The staff at the Hope School would like to thank all of you who attended this meeting, and voted to have their programs for the coming year.
Hope School Dates
The following are the dates to remember at the Hope School. Wednesday, May 28, is the Spring Concert at 6 p.m. for grades 4 through 6.
June 5 is class trip for grades 6 through 8 to Quebec, June 23 is eighth-grade graduation and June 24 the last day of school.
From Hope School Library
Overdue book notices are being sent home from the library. Please try to find these books and return them to school. If they are lost, the library will accept payment before the last week of school.
Spring Book Fair
The scholastic Book Fair will close on May 29. It will be open before and after the concert but will be closed during the performance.
A note from Teacher Burcalow
Mars Burcalow is currently raising money for a timpani. They have already raised $500 from donations and from their recent cookie fundraiser. They have a donor who will match funds up to $1,500 for a total purchase price of $3,000. They will be accepting donations.
The school is now selling Hope Elementary School T-shirts and sweatshirts. They will have tables at the music concert and hopefully at the talent show. They will carry youth small, medium, large and extra-large. Adult sizes small, medium, large and extra large. If you would like to place an order, email them or pick up an order form in the office.
To All Volunteers
To all volunteers who have donated food, time and those who have taken on and event such as the Magazine Drive, Book Fair, Pen Pal Tea and the skating and skiing Clubs the school couldn't do it with out you. They have many volunteers that give up so much so that the programs are able to offer these activities. A huge thank you to Patti Tempio-Wilson who has overseen the Pen Pal Tea for years. Patti and family are moving on and the school knows they were lucky to have them. A special thank you to Andrea Space who will be taking the program over.
