Budget Committee

The Budget Committee has started to hold their budget meetings. They will meet every week on Thursday evenings. The next meeting is March 20 at the Town Office - please contact the Town Office (763-4199) for exact times.

Kinetic Energy ALIVE: Power Performance

Coming to the Strom Auditorium in Camden on April 4 with old school hip hop and great dances by kids, moving into dances by adults addressing real life issues like our economy and making a living for our families. The first act is a ton of fun and definitely opens your mind. Several Hope students are in the show! Tickets are available in the school office for $15.

Ladies Club

The Ladies Club had poor attendance due to poor weather at their last meeting. There was a show and tell segment at the last meeting, the scholarship for the coming year was finalized. Darlene Barrows was the presiding president for the meeting. The next meeting will be on April 8 at Denny’s Restaurant in Rockport.

Historical Society

The Historical Society will hold their next meeting on April 8; for more information please contact Ann at 763-3274 or Gwen at 785-4433.

Summer Activities Fair

Wednesday, March 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Camden-Rockport Elementary School gymnasium. Close to 40 organizations, camps, clubs and businesses will be on hand with information on their summer programs for children. It's a great chance to find out your options, ask questions, and take home information on all the fun activities and childcare options for kids this summer. Free! Raffle Prizes! Class of 1958

The class cancelled their last luncheon due to poor weather. There will be no makeup this month. Next meeting in April will be announced in future columns.

Nomination Papers

Nomination papers are available at the Town Office for the following positions. Selectmen, Assessor, Overseer of Poor (3-year term) two positions open; Budget Committee (3-year term) three positions open; School Committee (3-year term) one open position; Road commissioner (3-year term) one position. You can pick up papers at Hope Town Office anytime during office hours. Papers must be returned by 4:30 p.m. on April 29. Office hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 8 p.m.

Condolences

Mike Bessher of Barnestown Road passed away last week - sympathy is extended to his wife and family. Mike was on the school board.

Sweet Tree Arts

Brings Internationally celebrated storyteller Clare Muireann Murphy from Dublin Ireland to the stage at Rockport Opera House Saturday, March 29, at 3 p.m. Clare retells the traditional tales of Ireland’s past. "On the Heels of the Hound" is a dark and ferocious journey, where monsters leap with blinding frenzy, one-eyed monsters hunt the shores, and shape-shifters blur the line between this world and the the otherworld. Learn how fairies came from the fallen gods, how broken promises can change the fate of the a nation and how great battles shaped the very earth itself. On the Heels of the Hound is recommended for children ages 8 and older. Tickets are $10 adults and $5 for students available at HAVII in Camden and online at sweettreearts.org in advance or $12/$6 at the door. A number of free tickets are available on a first come, first served basis to families of Lincolnville, Hope, Appleton schools.
