Jeremiah and Jess Carlton (who work for Chris Pearse) are proud to announce the birth of their daughter Abigail Rose, weighing 9 pounds, 8 ounces. She arrived Aug. 14.
Hatchet Mountain SnoRiders will start up with meetings soon. The first meeting will be Sept. 12, at 6 p.m. at Hope Corner Fire Station. They will have their annual Hot Dog Roast. Pass the word to any club member and landowner. The club will supply the hot dogs and drinks. Please bring a salad or dessert to share. Also all raffle tickets must be turned in at this meeting. If you need some more tickets to sell please call Nancy at 763-4118 or 542-2693, the club needs to sell more tickets.
The Ladies Club first meeting of the season will be Tuesday, Sept. 10, at Ayre Park in Union (a picnic) everyone should bring their own lunch and drink (a chair if you wish) and a dessert to share. The event will start at 10 a.m. Also please bring the items for the raffle for the basket for the fire department (or you can leave the items on Charlotte’s doorstep). A short business meeting will be held following lunch, during the business meeting volunteers will be signed up to sell raffle tickets on the quilt at the craft fair (Oct. 19 at Hope Elementary School) — this will benefit our scholarship fund. At 2 p.m. Margaret, Nita, and Ann will bring the quilts to Windward Gardens for exhibit (Ann will have the Historical Quilt) and Baxter Smith will also exhibit items he has turned from wood from the Pearse Farm. The next meeting will be Oct. 8 (date subject to change) to celebrate birthdays at Hope Corner Fire Station.
The Hope Children’s Festival takes place Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sweetland Center at 4 Church St., Hope. The event celebrates and welcomes artist and author Ashely Bryan celebrating his stories though music and art. Original music, drumming, stories, art activities, robots, face painting and many hands on activities for children and families will be shared. The library will also be open during this event. Raffle tickets are available at Hope General Store for many great prizes donated by local businesses such as Fresh off of the Farm, Atlantica, Fresh, Clean Bee Laundry, K2, Shermans, Sugare Tools, Planet and many more. Alford Lake, Lermond Pond Association Potluck Supper
There will be a potluck supper Friday, Aug. 23, at 5:30 p.m. at Alford Lake Girls Camp on Alford Lake Road. Members and non-members are invited to come and discuss the future of the lake and pond. Beverages, hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided. Consider bringing a dish to share.
