Hope man injured in motorcycle crash
West Rockport — A Hope man remains at Maine Medical Center in Portland after crashing his motorcycle on Route 17 in West Rockport near The Green Thumb on June 11.
At about 8 a.m., Ryan Fossett, 25, was driving east on a 2001 Buell motorcycle. He attempted to pass several vehicles before he saw a car coming at him, according to Rockport Police Chief Mark Kelley.
To avoid a collision, Fossett went off the road, crashing into the ditch, Kelley said.
Fossett broke both his legs and has cracked ribs and a fractured hand as well as numerous scrapes and bruises, police said.
Fossett was wearing a helmet, Kelley said.
He was initially taken by ambulance to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport and transferred to Maine Medical Center, where he remained is satisfactory condition as of June 18.
