Home Sales “Perking” up in Knox & Waldo Counties
Camden Hills Realty reports the sales of existing homes in Knox and Waldo Counties are showing some reasonable gains based on information recently provided by the Maine Association of Realtors.
September, sales of existing homes were up 8.48% across the state with a median price increase of 6.92%. Units sold is the more telling number. The median price increase is largely a function of the mix of inventory. The trending for Maine is consistent with nationwide statistics. All good news for the housing market.
Looking more closely at our marketplace... activity for July through September in Knox County was up about 5% on sales of existing homes. Waldo County was up 13%. The two counties combined showed 202 units being sold. Pricing over this same period was relatively flat to the previous year.
“At Camden Hills Realty, we are encouraged by the overall numbers and our own sales activity. We are expecting a strong finish to the year. We have also been fortunate to be able to show an increase in our business over the previous year. In expectation of an improving market, we even have an eye toward adding more agents in 2013,” stated John Burgess, broker and owner of Camden Hills Realty.
We expect the positive trends in housing to continue. It’s a great time to buy, a great time to sell and a great time to be with Camden Hills Realty.
